Specialty Camp

Campers will have additional fun with recreational swimming, arts & crafts, sports, daily devotions, and indoor games while participating in a specialty camp.
With the exception of Yiggles Camp and Iron Chef, all Specialties Camps are held from 9:00am-4:00pm.

Yiggles Camp

(6/9-6/13) ages 3-4
Find your adventure with the Yiggles at the YMCA. Preschoolers ages 3-4 will have fun dancing, singing and dressing up as your favorite Wiggles character like Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and Captain Feathersword, the friendly pirate. This half- day specialty camp also include arts & crafts, group games, play time in the Gooch Family Play Structure, and free swim. Campers must be potty trained prior to camp attendance.

Little Dippers

(6/16-6/20)
Ages 3-4
Experience the water and camp with your little dipper. Join us for a half-day swim camp where the parent/guardian comes to camp with the camper from 9:00am-12:00pm. Pack your goggles and pool toys for fun in the water. Listen to a favorite underwater story and bring a healthy snack from home for fun on land as these activities will also be a part of this half-day specialty camp.

Micro Skate Camp

(6/23-6/27)
Ages 3-4
Little Steppers step out to the skate park this summer to skate, ollie, nollie, grind and jam like the big kids. Skateboard, helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads, and knee pads are required. Parent/guardians drop off/pick up at the skate park located on Idlewild Avenue. Camp Hours are from 9:00am-12:00pm, pack a healthy snack and plenty of water for them to re-energize during the morning. Campers must be potty trained prior to camp attendance.

Artist Within

Ages 8-12
Come join us for a week of more than arts and crafts fun. Campers will be working in four different artistic mediums and completing works that will be unique and presentable. If you enjoy painting, ceramics, drawing and shading, then this is the camp for you.

Bejeweled Camp

(7/28-8/1)
Ages 8-12
Beads, string, gimp, leather... make art you can wear and learn about jewelry, how it is made or why it is worn. Campers will have the opportunity to design their own jewelry each day. Visit to local jewelers and search the shore for nature's sparklies. Don't miss out on this summer's camp fashion!

Bring It On

2-4-6-8! Cheer this summer; learn the latest cheers, proper motion, dance and jumping techniques. Cheerleaders will receive a set of pom-poms. The week will end with a Friday camp performance.

Catch of the Day

Ages 8-12
Experience the fun of your first catch or perfect your cast. Campers will have fun fishing in local spots, learning the basic skills, and experience an extended day of deep sea fishing on the Chesapeake Bay.

Ecology Camp

(7/21-7/25)
Ages 10-14
Join the YMCA of Talbot County and Environmental Concern and get a chance to learn about wetlands-why they are so cool, why they are so important and why they are so smelly! Learn about wetland plants and animals and how they have adapted to survive in their soggy surroundings. Each morning will include a trip to the Environmental Concern campus in St. Michaels, with a chance to check out four different types of wetlands. Games and crafts are included in the program. Each afternoon will include swimming at the YMCA. Sign up today for an unforgettable wetland adventure!

Fur, Paws and Claws

(8/11-8/15)
Ages 8-12
Pet ownership, responsibility, and characteristics of different animals are all parts of having a pet. Campers will enjoy learning how to make treats for waggy-tailed friends, where they can pass them out at a trip to the Talbot County humane Society. Share your pet with your new summer friends, learn training tips and visit a local veterinarian to lean basic pet safety and first aid.

Hollywood Bound

(7/14-7/18)
Ages 10-14
Explore the exciting world of acting during games, acting exercises, learning about stage make-up, designing costumes, and even performing for an audience! Stretch your imagination as you create your own crazy characters, develop improvisational skills and show off all the hard work done during the week in a small performance on the last day of camp. The remainder of the day will be spent in traditional camp activities.

Iron Chef

(7/28-8/1, 8/11-8/15)
Ages 11-14
Food... what can you make with it? Campers will learn basic cooking skills and compete to take home the Iron Chef Award this summer. Campers will travel away from the YMCA to Super Suppers® each day to experiment with new and traditional food concoctions, from 2-4pm. They will make lots of goodies, and even bring home their own cookbook at the end of the week. Campers will be available for pick up at the YMCA by parents/guardians after 4:30pm each day.

Magic Camp

Ages 6-8
Discover the secrets to creating illusions that will amaze your friends and family! Cards, coins, magic cups and balls, scarves, and other props will be used to practice sleight-of-hand maneuvers. Show off your magic tricks to other campers during your magic show.

Skate Camp

(7/14-7/18) ages 9-12, (8/4-8/8)
Ages 6-8
Skate, ollie, nollie, grind and jam this summer at the YMCA. Whether you are interested or your big brother gave you his old skateboard with a demand that you learn to "ollie", you will be stoked. Studio 202

(6/16-6/20, 7/21-7/25, 7/28-8/1, 8/4-8/8, 8/18-8/22)
Ages 11-14
On the first day of camp receive training on several software systems and learn basic filming and photo techniques to prepare for your own camp assignment. Using those skills, your goal will be to capture the camp in action. Spend time in the cutting room putting your piece together, fine-tuning, adding music and commentary. A showing of the movies will take place on Friday at each camp that was filmed and copies will be made for each camper to take home. At the end of the summer, all movies will be shown and celebrated at a Studio 202 Film Festival.

Thingamajig

Ages 8-14
What's a Thingamajig? Shake up what you make up with this invitation to invention. Campers will create, concoct, and complete something special. What will it be? It may be your ticket to an invention convention. Campers will take a trip to the Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD to see other campers' Thingamajigs on Thursday, August 7th.

Trading Spaces: Boys vs. Girls

(6/23-6/27)
Ages 10-14
Boys and girls, working with friends, a designer and a carpenter will try to create fantasy offices for Cedric Samuels, Maintenance Director and Aaron Hutt, Wellness Director. The catch? All the work needs to be done in 5 days. Campers will race against the clock as they use their creativity and tap into skill they never knew they had. Think an office could be turned into a tennis court or a tool chest? Join in and find out!

Travel Skate Camp

(6/16-6/20)
Ages 10-14
Come show off a kick flip nose manual or a backside pivot fakie at the home town skate park and venture out to new parks to show off a 360 flip this summer. Campers will have the opportunity to skate at Atonement Skate Park, Stevensville, MD, Cloud Break Skate Park, Ocean City, MD, and Charm City Skateboard Park, Baltimore, MD. Skateboard, helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads, and knee pads are required.

Treasure Island

Ages 6-8
Argh, YMCA Mateys! Come walk the plank onto ye Y pirate ship! Have some swashbuckling pirate fun with the canonball toss, stranded island obstacle course, crocodile hunt and more. Send a message in a bottle, try your hand (or hook!) at sand art and become a Captain Hook look-a-like.

Watermen Camp

Ages 8-12
Crabs, what are they all about? Campers will learn about the Maryland blue crab, have a chance to crab in local spots, meet and crab with a local waterman, tour a crab processing center, and enjoy their very own crab feast. Campers learn about the importance of wetlands to the blue crab life cycle, play crab games and participate in hands-on wetland
